Some 300 Germans eager to move to Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod Region — authorities
Among those who are ready to move are technical professionals in the metalworking industry
MOSCOW, April 6. /TASS/. About 300 German citizens have expressed their willingness to move to Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod Region in 2023, Olga Guseva, director of the foreign relations department at the Nizhny Novgorod regional government, told a conference on the potential of bringing in workers from Europe and the US to the region, held at the State Duma on Thursday.
"In March of this year we received a letter from a German national with a request to help his fellow countrymen move to the Nizhny Novgorod Region on a permanent basis, as well as help them find jobs. About 300 people are ready to move to the Nizhny Novgorod Region already this year, but that number may increase to 1,000 people by the end of 2023," she said.
This is because German people "see a lot of potential for cooperation with the Nizhny Novgorod Region in the automotive industry, efficient energy conversion, construction and development of infrastructure and logistics," - the press service of the Nizhny Novgorod region government quotes Guseva as saying.
Among those who are ready to move are technical professionals in the metalworking industry. These are machine operators, technologists and welders, as well as specialists from the auto industry, shipbuilding, construction industry and agricultural sector. The decision to move was prompted by the participation of German citizens in the Friendship Car Rally project. Its participants arrange road trips through Russian regions, where they can see places of interest, communicate with the local population, and learn about the prospects for growing their business.
Guseva spoke in favor of devising a state program to help those who want to live in Russia.
