Putin honors fallen war correspondent Tatarsky with state award

MOSCOW, April 3. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree awarding the Order of Courage to Vladlen Tatarsky (real name Maxim Fomin), a war correspondent who was killed in an explosion at a cafe in St. Petersburg on April 2.

"To award the Order of Courage to war correspondent Fomin Maxim Yuryevich (Vladlen Tatarsky) (posthumously) for courage and bravery in doing his professional duty," reads the decree published on the official Internet portal of legal information.

Vladlen Tatarsky was killed in a blast at a cafe on Sunday during an event he was hosting. Over 30 people were wounded. The terrorist attack against Vladlen Tatarsky was plotted by Ukrainian special services, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee told TASS earlier on Monday.

Tatarsky gained acclaim after the start of the special military operation. He recorded daily videos called ‘Evening Vladlen’ with an analytical insight into the course of the special operation and advice to those mobilized.

Order of Courage

The Order of Courage is awarded to citizens who have shown dedication, courage and bravery in protecting public order, fighting crime, saving people in emergency situations, as well as for brave and decisive actions in fulfilling their military, civil or professional duty where there is a risk to life and limb.
