Kiev has not abandoned plans to seize Zaporozhye NPP — Rosenergoatom
According to Advisor to the Director General of Rosenergoatom Renat Karchaa, for the third month in a row, Ukraine has not launched any shelling on the perimeter of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant
MELITOPOL, March 8. /TASS/. For the third month in a row, Ukraine has not launched any shelling on the perimeter of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (NPP), but this does not mean that the country has abandoned its plan to seize the plant by force, Advisor to the Director General of Rosenergoatom Renat Karchaa told TASS.
"Ukraine has not shelled the Zaporozhye NPP for the past three months, but it continues to prepare an operation to seize the plant by force. They (the Ukrainian Armed Forces - TASS) have simply changed tactics," he said.
Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi said earlier that there is an urgent need for establishing a security zone around the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant. He stressed that combat operations and the tense working conditions at the plant pose threats to its nuclear safety. He noted that security services have expanded their presence at the facility.
