Two apartments damaged in shelling of western Russia’s Belgorod — governor
The building’s systems are operating normally, with central heating and power supplies already restored, yacheslav Gladkov said
MOSCOW, October 14. /TASS/. Two apartments of an apartment building in the southwestern Russian city of Belgorod were damaged as a result of a Ukrainian shelling attack on Thursday afternoon, Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said in his Telegram channel.
"It will take some time to repair the two damaged apartments. The timeframe will depend on technologies used in the process. It is very important to show to their inhabitants that all decisions will be made publicly and openly," Gladkov said.
In his words, the building’s systems are operating normally, with central heating and power supplies already restored. The removal of debris is to begin on October 14, to be followed by gradual repairs. Police will remain on duty outside the apartment building to protect property and prevent plundering.
A total of 26 people living in 11 apartments of the house have been accommodated at a local hotel, the rest decided to stay with their relatives.
"Those staying in the hotel have access to everything they need - accommodation, food, medical and psychological assistance. Every family had an opportunity to take all necessary items from their apartments in an organized manner. They were accompanied by rescuers of the Russian emergencies ministry," the governor said.
Earlier, Deputy Governor of the Belgorod Region Konstantin Polezhayev said that a Ukrainian shelling attack damaged a technical level and the ceiling of an apartment on the 16th floor of an apartment building.
Belgorod air defense systems repelled a shelling attack by the armed forces of Ukraine on Tuesday afternoon. An unexploded part of an ordnance fell onto a sports ground. Also, a 16-storey apartment building was damaged. Residents of the building were evacuated. No casualties were reported.
