MOSCOW, October 8. /TASS/. Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a birthday greeting telegram to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told RTVI on Saturday.

"As usual, a congratulatory telegram came. Presents are handed only during a meeting," Peskov said.

According to a diplomatic source of RTVI, besides the greetings message, the Russian president was sent a present. According to the RTVI source, the telegram and the present were sent to the Russian embassy to China.

The Russian president turned 70 on Friday, October 7. An informal CIS summit was held in St. Petersburg on his birthday. The distinctive feature of this year’s summit were the birthday presents given by the CIS leaders to the Russian president. For example, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko handed Putin a certificate for a Belarus tractor, which is being assembled at the Minsk Tractor Works in line with special technical specification.
