Guzal Khusanova expressed regret that OHCHR did not have the courage to speak honestly about the crimes committed by the Kiev regime

GENEVA, October 4. /TASS/. The report on the situation in Ukraine, presented by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), is one-sided, unbalanced and reflects only Western approaches to covering the Ukrainian crisis, Russian diplomat Guzal Khusanova said at the 51st session of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) in Geneva on Tuesday. Khusanova expressed regret that OHCHR did not have the courage to speak honestly about the crimes committed by the Kiev regime.

"We note the one-sided and unbalanced nature of the presented document, which reflects Western approaches to covering the Ukrainian crisis," Khusanova said. "We regret that the OHCHR lacks the courage to make a high-principled approach and honestly expose all war crimes, crimes against humanity and violations of human rights, for which the Kiev regime bears responsibility."

Khusanova drew attention to the fact that regarding the incident in Yelenovka, the report "does not say a word" to the effect the shelling of this detention center, where Ukrainian prisoners of war were kept, was carried out by the Ukrainian army.

At the same time, even this report "compiled according to Western templates" states the Ukrainian army’s indiscriminate use of heavy weapons, placement of military equipment near civilian facilities and brutal treatment of prisoners of war, Kiev’s persecution of so-called traitors, cases of abductions, problems in the field of the administration of justice, as well as legislative innovations aimed at prohibiting opposition forces.

"We state with regret that the OHCHR presents this information in a vague and uncertain manner, which only gives the Kiev regime a free hand and contributes to its impunity," Khusanova said.

The 51st session of the HRC is being held in Geneva from September 14 to October 7. Russia is not its member, but as a UN member-country has the right to participate in its meetings.
