MOSCOW, December 4. /TASS/. Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council Dmitry Medvedev has been re-elected as Chairman of the ruling United Russia Party. A respective decision was made by the party’s congress on Saturday.
The term of powers of United Russia Chairman is five years, according to party rules.
Medvedev’s candidacy was submitted for discussion at the congress by Chairman of the party’s Supreme Council Boris Gryzlov. "Considering the tasks set for the congress and the decision of the joint meeting of the supreme and general councils of the party it is suggested to re-elect Dmitry A. Medvedev as Chairman of the United Russia Party for another five-year term," he said.
Medvedev has been Chairman of United Russia since 2012.
