Vadim Lobov
Vadim Lobov was born in the city of Azov in the Rostov Region on August 2, 1979.
In 1998, Lobov graduated from the law lyceum at Rostov State University of Economics (the present-day Southern Federal University) with a gold medal.
In 2002, he graduated from Moscow State University of Economics, Statistics and Informatics (MESI, the present-day Plekhanov Russian University of Economics) with a red diploma in finance and lending.
In 2004, Lobov defended his thesis titled “The Entrepreneurial Activity of a Higher Education Institution in the Russian Education System” for the candidate of economic sciences degree.
Vadim Lobov commenced his business career at the age of 15.
In 1999, in collaboration with economist Yury Rubin, he launched the Career Hub project at MESI.
In 2001, also in collaboration with Rubin, he co-founded a private institution of higher education, Moscow Financial and Industrial Academy, which was later expanded to a university and renamed as Moscow Financial and Industrial University “Synergy” (University Synergy). At Lobov’s initiative, University Synergy became one the first education institutions in Russia to embrace E-learning. University Synergy is Russia’s leading private higher education institution. In 2023, 210,000 students studied at the university, according to data from the Russian Education and Science Ministry.
Also, Lobov is the founder and head of a corporation that integrates around 50 companies in the field of continuous learning that includes kindergartens, schools, colleges, higher education institutions as well as refresher, additional professional and MBA courses. The corporation has an internal business accelerator for startups.
In collaboration with entrepreneur Grigory Avetov, Lobov founded Synergy Global Forum, a business hosting international forums and conferences in Moscow, St. Petersburg, New York, Shanghai, New Delhi, Dubai as well as CIS capitals. The list of guest speakers includes Richard Branson, Tony Robbins, Yuval Harari, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Richard Gere, and Mike Tyson, among other celebrities. The Tony Robbins seminar organized by Lobov in Moscow set a world record for the number of participants.
Lobov initiated the establishing of the Rospatriotcenter federal state budgetary institution which he first headed. He has acted as organizer, producer and sponsor of a number of projects in the sphere of culture, including Art Russia Contemporary Art Fair, Wall and Word exhibitions at Tretyakov Gallery, the Pushkin Ball at the Gostiny Dvor in Moscow and several performances by theater director Eduard Boyakov.
He has organized a number of patriotic projects, including historical reconstructions For Stalingrad! and Storming Berlin as well as the Heroes of the Special Military Operation educational project for schoolchildren. A number of projects run in collaboration with the Znanie (or Knowledge) Society, Russian Youth and Children Movement and the Defenders of the Fatherland foundation.
He organized Russian Film Week in Great Britain.
Lobov was awarded with the Certificate of Honor of the President of the Russian Federation for a significant contribution to arranging and holding the 22nd Olympic Winter Games and the 11th Paralympic Games in Sochi in 2014, a letter of gratitude from the Russian government for a major contribution to developing Russian entrepreneurship and on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the All-Russian Non-Government Organization for Small and Medium Business “OPORA Russia,” a letter of gratitude from the Russian Justice Ministry (2023), the medal “In Memory of the Heroes of the Fatherland” of the Russian Defense Ministry and the Certificate of Honor from the Russian Education and Science Ministry.
The title of Honorable Worker of Russian Professional Education was conferred on Lobov in 2017, and in 2018 he was awarded with the decoration “For Impeccable Service to the City of Moscow.”
Among other awards, he holds the international award “Leader in Innovation” for a significant contribution to developing and introducing innovation in business and technology, the award “Person of the Year in Global Affairs” for his proactive role in global development and cooperation, the decoration “For Merits in Development of International Relations,” the medal of honor “For Peace and Cooperation” for his commitment to peacekeeping and humanitarian initiatives and the Gold Cup “For Leadership and Achievements in International Business.”
