Over 3,500 militants, their family members leave Syria’s Douma during past day
These militants and their family members were taken by 86 buses to the north of the Aleppo province
MOSCOW, April 13. /TASS/. The Russian center for reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria during the past day organized evacuation of 3,508 militants and members of their families from Eastern Ghouta’s Douma, the center’s chief, Yuri Yevtishenko said on Friday.
""The Russian center for reconciliation of the warring parties and units of the Russian military police continue efforts to organize exit of militants from illegal armed groups and members of their families from the city of Douma via the humanitarian corridor near the settlement of Muhayam al-Wafidin. During the day, a total of 3,508 militants and members of their families used this corridor to leave the area," he said, adding that these militants and their family members were taken by 86 buses to the north of the Aleppo province. The bus convoy was escorted by Syrian security service patrol and ambulance cars.
"While leaving the area, Jaysh al-Islam militants surrendered to officers of the Russian reconciliation center 19 pieces of weaponry, 7,800 munitions, seven hand grenades and 37 radio stations," Yevtushenko said.
According to the Russian defense ministry, as many as 63,500 militants and members of their families have left Eastern Ghouta with the assistance of the Russian reconciliation center since humanitarian pauses came into effect.
Apart from that, according to the Russian defense ministry, a total of 123 Syrians, including 95 children received first aid assistance from Russian military doctors during the past day.
The Russian reconciliations center delivered 1.9 tonnes of humanitarian cargoes to the settlement of Ashrafiyah in the province of Homs. Drinking water was delivered to the settlement of Hsham in the province of Deir ez-Zor.
