MOSCOW, April 5. /TASS/. Russia and China have agreed to advance their roadmap on the Korean peninsula, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Thursday after talks with Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.

"Russian-Chinese foreign policy coordination plays an increasingly important and stabilizing role on the international arena," the Russian diplomat said. "We have agreed to bolster cooperation at different international platforms, including the UN, G20, BRICS, SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) and RIC (Russia, India and China), APEC as well as within the mechanism of the East Asia summits," he went on to say.

"We exchanged opinions in detail on the situation around the Korean peninsula, emphasizing the importance of averting an armed conflict there," Lavrov said. "We noted that political-diplomatic settlement has no alternative. We agreed to continue advancing approaches that were documented in the Russian-Chinese roadmap approved in July 2017," the Russian diplomat said.

He said "a number of provisions in the roadmap have demonstrated their relevance, in particular as concerns our common appeals to all parties to demonstrate mutual restraint and confirm readiness for a dialogue"
