Moscow strongly condemns missile strikes from Yemen
According to earlier reports, Saudi Arabia’s air defense destroyed seven missiles launched from Yemen by the Houthis
MOSCOW, March 26. /TASS/. Russia strongly condemns missile strikes from the territory of the Republic of Yemen against Saudi Arabia’s capital and a number of other cities, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a commentary following Sunday’s strikes from Yemen’s territory.
"Moscow strongly condemns such indiscriminate missile strikes, which hit populated areas and their residents," the commentary runs.
The Foreign Ministry called for prompt termination of hostilities and the beginning of a political dialogue between the parties to the prolonged conflict in Yemen.
"Humanitarian suffering being experienced by civilians, wherever they are, must be brought to an end. We are calling upon the Yemeni protagonists to come to the negotiating table for producing a consolidated vision of the country’s future reconstruction on the basis of a national dialogue, mutual respect for the interests of the main political forces and the corresponding decisions by the international community," the Foreign Ministry said.
According to earlier reports, Saudi Arabia’s air defense destroyed seven missiles launched from Yemen by Ansar Allah rebels (Houthis) from Yemen. Three missiles were shot down in Saudi Arabia’s airspace. One Egyptian citizen was killed and two others injured when the missiles’ debris crashed on their home.
Ansar Allah has confirmed it had launched several missiles against targets in Saudi Arabia. The Houthi rebels say the ballistic missiles were targeted at King Khalid International Airport 35 kilometers away from Riyadh and also airports in Saudi Arabia’s Asir and Jizan, in the country’s southwest.
