Kremlin expects US to distance itself from Russophobia gripping numerous countries
Experts believe that the resignation of a key presidential adviser will be just a part of upcoming personnel reshuffles in the US administration
MOSCOW, March 23. /TASS/. The Kremlin hopes that there will be a greater number of people in America’s leadership who will be able to stay aloof from Russophobia, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday.
Replying to a reporters’ request to comment on John Bolton being selected as Trump’s new national security adviser, the Kremlin spokesman noted that "this is the US president’s right," adding that the appointment "is not our business."
The spokesman stressed, however, that "We hope that there will be more people in the US leadership who will be able to distance itself from the wave of the Russophobia that has now swept up many countries, including the United States."
The Kremlin spokesman declined to comment on Bolton’s personal qualities, noting that "this would be incorrect."
"Undoubtedly," the Kremlin spokesman said in response to a question about whether the Kremlin had information about Bolton.
On Thursday, US President Trump announced on Twitter that his National Security Adviser Herbert McMaster had stepped down and that John Bolton, former US Permanent Representative to the UN, was appointed to fill this post.
As the US president said, "an official contact handover" will take place on April 9. Experts believe that the resignation of a key presidential adviser will be just a part of upcoming personnel reshuffles in the US administration in relation to other high-ranking officials.
