Russia's Rostelecom to establish 7 video data processing centers for presidential election
According to the press service, Rostelecom will become the only operator that will organize video monitoring at the Russian presidential election in March 2018
MOSCOW, December 21. /TASS/. State-controlled telecom giant Rostelecom will set up seven centers to process video data during the Russian presidential election in March 2018, the company’s press service said on Thursday.
"Video monitoring will be established on the territory of all 85 Russian regions in the facilities of more than 40,000 district election commissions and territorial election commissions. A special portal will be established for the employees of the Central Election Commission that will provide the possibility to monitor the process of adjusting the video monitoring system ahead of the election and will guarantee access to video feeds during the election. For this purpose, Rostelecom will use its own protected data transmission network, seven data processing centers - in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Samara, Krasnodar, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk and Khabarovsk - as well as set up situation centers in each branch," the report says.
According to the press service, Rostelecom will become the only operator that will organize video monitoring at the Russian presidential election in March 2018. Rostelecom first organized video monitoring for a Russian presidential election in 2012. The company’s experts created an infrastructure and supplied all Russian election commissions with equipment. The voting process of March 4, 2012, was monitored through a specialized portal by 3.5 mln people who watched 7.9 mln video feeds.
