MOSCOW, December 6. /TASS/. The investigation into the assassination of Russian Ambassador to Turkey, Andrey Karlov, continues, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday.
"December 19 will mark one year since the assassination of Mr. Karlov, Russia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Turkey. The Turkish law enforcement agencies, in cooperation with Russian investigators, continue the investigation. Investigative measures against the individuals detailed on suspicion of involvement in this crime are underway," she noted.
According to Zakharova, the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Russian Embassy in Turkey are keeping a close eye on the issue. "We regularly informed you (reporters) about all memorial events, events to perpetuate Andrey Karlov’s memory and the work done by the Foreign Ministry and non-governmental organizations, and we will continue doing so," Zakharova concluded.
Russia’s Ambassador to Turkey, Andrey Karlov, was gunned down on December 19, 2016. An armed man whom the police later identified as a 22-year-old police officer opened indiscriminate fire in an art gallery in Ankara where Ambassador Karlov was opening a photo exhibition. Turkish officials said the attacker had been killed. Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a decree to award the Hero of Russia title to Andrey Karlov (posthumously).
