MOSCOW, November 15. /TASS/. Russia’s presidential administration endorses the amendments passed by the lower house earlier on Wednesday on designating media as foreign agents, presidential envoy to the State Duma Garry Minkh told TASS.

"We view positively and support this," Minkh said.

The Russian lawmakers unanimously passed the amendments in the second reading and are considering them now in the third and final reading.

After acquiring this status, these media outlets will be subject to the restrictions and responsibilities, which are currently envisaged for non-governmental organizations labeled as foreign agents. They will also face a similar responsibility for such NGOs for breaching this legislation.

Minkh said unfortunately, this decision "fits the logics of Russia’s relations with the US." "Our position is more right, as we are not initiating some steps, but we are forced to respond."
