Special mission to Idlib needed to establish truth, Russian diplomat says
"This mission should have balanced staffing and should produce unbiased assessments," Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov said
BRUSSELS, April 5. /TASS/. It is important to dispatch a special mission to the Syrian Idlib Governorate where chemical weapons were supposedly used earlier this week, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov, who represents Russia at the international conference for Syria in Brussels said on Wednesday.
"The task is to send a up-to-the-point investigative mission there if there's a genuine desire to establish truth," he said. "This mission should have balanced staffing and should produce unbiased assessments."
"The way the Western draft (resolution of the UN on the Idlib incident TASS) has been drawn up exposed its goal to condemn the Syrian government a priori for what happened," Gatilov said. "Our partners said the situation is such that they need to think it over."
