Kremlin believes excessive interference in Libya’s affairs is inadvisable
According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the situation with authorities in Libya "remains rather controversial and difficult"
MOSCOW, March 14. /TASS/. Russia is contacting with parties in Libya if necessary but is not going to meddle excessively in the country’s affairs, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said commenting on Moscow’s contacts with Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA) Khalifa Haftar.
The situation with authorities in Libya "remains rather controversial and difficult," Peskov said. "Certainly, any Russia’s excessive interference into the Libyan affairs is hardly possible and is hardly advisable."
"However, this does not mean that Russia is not contacting with the sides if it considers this necessary," Peskov stressed.
Speaking on if Russia intends to deepen cooperation with Libya in various areas, Peskov said "there aren’t any plans now." "You know, there are some contacts, no doubt, Russia wants the situation in Libya to stabilize."
The power vacuum should end and Libyan authorities need to take drastic measures so that the country "does not turn into a breeding ground for terrorist vermin," he stressed.
