Russia’s 61st humanitarian aid convoy ready to head off to Donbass
The Russian Emergencies Ministry has been furnishing humanitarian aid to Donbass since August 2014
MOSCOW, February 27. /TASS/. The Russian Emergencies Ministry is ready to launch its 61st humanitarian aid convoy for Donbass scheduled to set off on February 28, the ministry’s press center told TASS.
"On the premises of the Emergencies Ministry’s Donskoy rescue center in the Rostov region, the 61th humanitarian convoy is prepared for delivering humanitarian aid to Ukraine’s southeast. It is scheduled to leave on February 28," an agency representative commented.
The convoy consists of 25 automobiles that will carry 300 tonnes of humanitarian freight for the Donetsk and Lugansk republics, the bulk of which is foodstuffs. The convoy will reach the Donetsk and Matveyev Kurgan border crossing points in order to pass through customs in compliance with international humanitarian aid legislation.
The Russian Emergencies Ministry has been furnishing humanitarian aid to Donbass since August 2014. During this period, 60 vehicular convoys have delivered more than 66 tonnes of humanitarian freight to the region.
