Kremlin says tragedy at Berlin Christmas market looks like terror attack
The Russian president has already expressed condolences to German Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Joachim Gauk over the tragedy
MOSCOW, December 20. /TASS/. The tragedy at a Christmas market in Germany’s Berlin late on Monday seems to be an act of terrorism, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.
"It looks very much like the act of terrorism," Peskov said, recalling that Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier "offered deep condolences over the tragedy that occurred in Berlin."
The Russian president expressed condolences to German Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Joachim Gauk over the tragedy, the Kremlin press service said earlier on Tuesday."The crime committed against civilians is shockingly cruel and cynical," Putin said, offering condolences to the families of the victims.
At least 12 people were killed and about 50 injured on Monday night when a truck ploughed into a central Christmas market in western Berlin. Some people are in a serious condition.
