MOSCOW, December 20. /TASS/. Russia is thankful to Turkey for its immediate reaction to the barbaric murder of Ambassador to Turkey Andrei Karlov, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a meeting with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu.
"We are grateful to the Turkish colleagues for the instant reaction to this barbaric crime and for the condolences," Lavrov said.
"It is necessary to establish as quickly as possible all the circumstances, in which this terrorist act was organized and committed," Lavrov said.
Karlov to be received with honors
A special plane with the body of Russia’s Ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov will arrive in Moscow on Tuesday and will be received with honors, according to Lavrov.
"The special plane will deliver the body of Andrey Karlov and his relatives to their home land," Lavrov said.
"We’ll receive them here with all the due honors," the foreign minister said.
"Yesterday, our presidents agreed that in addition to the relevant measures already started by Turkish special services, a Russian investigative team would fly to Ankara," he said.
"As I understand, it has already landed in the Turkish capital," he added.
The Russian diplomat was assassinated on Monday evening in Ankara during his speech at the opening of a photo exhibition: "Russia from Kaliningrad to Kamchatka as Viewed by a Traveler."
