Russia will elect its president in 2018, chairperson of the Russian Central Election Commission Ella Pamfilova said
MOSCOW, December 8. /TASS/. There will be no early presidential elections in Russia as they will be held exactly as planned, in March 2018, chairperson of the Russian Central Election Commission (CEC) Ella Pamfilova said on Thursday.
"I am absolutely confident and I will reiterate what I said back in September: despite all allegations, as far as I understand and submit, [presidential election] will be held as established by the law, i.e. in March 2018," she told journalists.
She said early elections in 2017 "are technically impossible for various reasons," including because of the forming of the next year’s budget.
When asked whether early elections could be ruled out, she stressed, "things go on as they should."
