Court extends arrest of Ukrainian national accused of plotting terrorist attack in Crimea
The arrest term has been extended till March 7, 2017
MOSCOW, December 5. /TASS/. A Moscow district court has extended the term of arrest for a Ukrainian national accused of plotting acts of sabotage and terrorist attacks in Crimea till March 7, 2017, a TASS correspondent reported from the court on Monday.
Thus, the Moscow Lefortovo district court sustained the motion of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB). "The court ruled to uphold the investigators’ motion and extend the arrest term for Andrei Zakhtey till March 7, 2017," Judge Margarita Kotovo said.
The court session was held behind closed doors.
On August 10, Russia’s FSB announced the detention of a group of saboteurs in Crimea. Apart from that, it said it had prevented terrorist attacks in Crimea that had been plotted by Ukraine’s main intelligence directorate. According to FSB, the targets of the terrorist attacks were Crimea’s critical infrastructure and vital facilities. The detained men, Andrei Zakhtey and Yevgeny Panov, admitted their guilt and were arrested. They face charges of committing acts of sabotage in an organized group (part 1, article 30 and part 2, article 281 of the Russian Criminal Code).
The court is expected to extend the arrest term to the other Ukrainian national, Yevgeny Panov, soon. The court session will also be held behind closed doors.
