Putin: Russia’s active 'eastern policy' based on long-term national interests
Today China is becoming a major economy of the world and "it is important that Russia's economic cooperation is extended by new large-scale projects in various areas"
MOSCOW, December 1. /TASS/. Russia’s robust eastern policy is driven by long-term national interests and global development rather than short-term considerations, President Vladimir Putin said in his state-of-the-nation address to the Federal Assembly.
"Russia’s active eastern policy is motivated not by some short-term considerations today and not by a chill in relations with the US or the EU, but long-term national interests and trends of global development," Putin said.
The Russian-Chinese all-encompassing partnership and strategic cooperation is one of factors of ensuring global and regional stability, he stressed. "It is an example of the world order based not on the idea of domination of any country, no matter how strong it is, but on harmonically taking into account the interests of all countries," Putin said.
Today China is becoming a major economy of the world and "it is important that our economic cooperation is extended by new large-scale projects in various areas," the president said.
Putin also said that developing privileged relations with India is another important area of Russia’s foreign policy. "The Russian-Indian talks at the highest level in Goa in October confirmed a huge potential for enhancing cooperation in various areas.".
