Kremlin says Putin is aware of situation with Ukraine’s missile tests in Black Sea
The presidential spokesman said Russia’s Ministry of Transport is "taking all the necessary measures" as well
MOSCOW, November 29. /TASS/.Russian President Vladimir Putin knows about the situation with Ukraine’s plans to carry out missile tests over the Crimean territorial waters in the Black Sea, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
The presidential spokesman said Russia’s Ministry of Transport is "taking all the necessary measures" in this situation.
When asked if Putin monitors the situation, Peskov said: "Of course he does"
Earlier in the day, Russia’s Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov said that Russia had discussed with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) the situation around Ukraine’s plans to carry out missile tests near Crimea. "We informed ICAO of this and expect a response from this international organization," Sokolov told reporters.
Russia’s aviation watchdog Rosaviatsia said earlier that Ukraine had made a unilateral decision to conduct missile-firing drills in Russia’s sovereign airspace near Simferopol. According to Rosaviatsia, this would be a violation of international agreements.
Rosaviatsia also said that on November 24, Ukraine had issued an aviation notification on "activating dangerous zones at all flight levels in view of missile firing exercises scheduled for December 1 and 2."
The watchdog said that closing the airspace over Crimea is not on the agenda, expressing confidence that Ukraine’s illegal decisions will be cancelled.
