Russia holds no secret talks on economic projects with Pakistan — Foreign Ministry
Reports on 'secret talks' with Pakistan on implementing the projects within the framework of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor are not true, the Russian Foreign Ministry says
MOSCOW, November 29. /TASS/. Russia conducts no "secret negotiations" with Pakistan on its involvement in implementing projects within the framework of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
"Reports on the ‘secret talks’ between Russia and Pakistan on implementing the projects within the framework of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor that have appeared in the Pakistani media are not true," the ministry said. "The possibility of Russia’s involvement to this initiative has not been discussed with Islamabad."
"Our trade and economic cooperation with Pakistan has a value in itself," it stressed. "We are committed to strengthening it in the future."
"The implementation of business projects in Pakistan by Russian companies, including the planned construction of the North-South gas pipeline from Karachi to Lahore, is carried out on a bilateral basis," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
