Foreign ministers of Russia, Belarus to discuss foreign policy cooperation in Minsk

After the meeting, Lavrov and Makei will sign a plan of inter-ministerial consultations in 2017

MINSK, November 22. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Belarusian counterpart Vladimir Makei will discuss development of bilateral cooperation on Tuesday in Minsk. They will also take part in the joint session of the collegiums of the Russian and Belarusian foreign ministries.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said earlier that Lavrov and Makei will make a special emphasis on implementing provisions of the Joint Statement of the Presidents of Russia and Belarus Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko from 15 December 2015.

The foreign ministers will also consider cooperation between Moscow and Minsk in promoting common approaches at UN, developing integrational processes in Eurasia, relations with European countries and countering attempts to falsify history.

The Belarusian Foreign Ministry said that in terms of foreign policy cooperation, the sides will focus on "cooperation along the line of the European Union and the Council of Europe." In the matters of fighting against attempts to falsify history, Lavrov and Makei will discuss the inadmissibility of reviewing the results of the Second World War.

After the meeting, Lavrov and Makei will sign a plan of inter-ministerial consultations in 2017.
