Sergey Lavrov and John Kerry will talk over an unprecedented occurrence at a US State Department briefing in which media outlets were categorized into ‘acceptable’ and ‘unacceptable’

MOSCOW, November 17./TASS/. On the sidelines of Thursday’s APEC meeting in Lima, Peru, Russian and US top diplomats, Sergey Lavrov and John Kerry, will talk over an unprecedented occurrence at a US State Department briefing in which media outlets were categorized into ‘acceptable’ and ‘unacceptable’, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated at a briefing on Thursday.

"I would like to focus on a shocking incident yesterday, when it was stated at a briefing at the US Department of State that the State Department does not put RT television on a par with other respected media outlets," she said. "This is a blatant outrage," the spokeswoman stated.

"This is an unprecedented occurrence of categorizing journalists into acceptable and unacceptable, into respected and not respected," she went on. "It will be brought up at a meeting between Lavrov and Kerry in Peru, due on the sidelines of an APEC summit today," she added.

If the Department of State persists in its attitude towards Russia’s RT television, US journalists will also see a different attitude at Russian Foreign Ministry briefings, Maria Zakharova told the briefing.

"Believe me, just you wait," she added. "If our TV channel faces the same attitude in Washington once again, American journalists will have a special place set aside at the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson’s briefings," she said.

At a briefing on Wednesday, US Department of State spokesman John Kirby dismissed a question from RT in a boisterous manner, and said he was not going to put Russia Today on the same level with independent media outlets.
