Medvedev hopeful no-one will provoke conflict between Syria, Israel
Along with this, Medvedev called the relationship of Israel and Syria a separate issue, "not subject to Russia’s jurisdiction"
MOSCOW, November 5. /TASS/. Russia is hopeful that deployment of Russia’s Aerospace Force and its weapons in Syria will not trigger tensions between Syria and Israel, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said in an interview with the Israeli Channel 2 broadcaster ahead of his visit to the country scheduled for November 10.
"I proceed from the fact that in the current situation no-one would take steps to provoke tensions or a conflict (between Syria and Israel - TASS). I believe everyone realizes it, at least they should realize it in Syria. And the Russian Armed Forces are guided by this," Medvedev said, answering to a question if the deployment of Russian weapons in Syria could affect the balance of power between Syria and Israel.
Russia’s prime minister said that the Defense Ministry was in charge of the issue and finally, "the country’s leader - Commander-in-Chief, or the president, defines" these issues.
"I hope everything will be all right and in this aspect, there could be no other scenario," he said, noting "the Syrian authorities and Syrian Armed Forces bear responsibility for law and order in their country," but not the Russian Aerospace Force.
