Lavrov says UN may have decisive say on situation in Iraq

ATHENS, November 2. /TASS/. The UN can have a major say on the situation in Iraq, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday following talks with his Greek counterpart Nikos Kotzias.

According to Lavrov, during the meeting the two top diplomats discussed the situation in Syria, Libya, Yemen and Iraq where the situation "gives little ground for optimism."

"On all these issues we adhere to a common line, that is, the need to implement the UN Security Council resolutions, be it on Syria, the Yemeni crisis or the Libyan crisis," the minister said.

"The UN may have an additional major say in Iraq as well."
