Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman wrote that she wanted to ask Mr.Parker a question: "Does he think that Kremlin was behind the appointment of Boris Johnson as the head of the British Foreign Office?"

MOSCOW, November 2 /TASS/. Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has disagreed with a claim of MI5 director general, Andrew Parker, that "Russia poses an increasing threat to the stability of the UK and is using all the sophisticated tools at its disposal to achieve its aims." The Russian diplomat published her comment on her page in Facebook.

Zakharova wrote that she wanted to ask Mr.Parker a clarification question: "Does he think that Kremlin was behind the appointment of Boris Johnson as the head of the British Foreign Office?"

On November 1, the Guardian published an interview with Andrew Parker, the chief of Britain’s MI5 intelligence service, in which he said that Russia posed a threat to Britain and was becoming increasingly aggressive in pushing its foreign policy abroad.

"It is using its whole range of state organs and powers to push its foreign policy abroad in increasingly aggressive ways - involving propaganda, espionage, subversion and cyber-attacks. Russia is at work across Europe and in the UK today. It is MI5’s job to get in the way of that," Parker said.

President Putin’s Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov, in turn, refuted Parker’s words by saying that Russia was defending its interests abroad in full compliance with the norms of international law and the principles of mutually beneficial relations.
