Russian diplomat calls to compare death tolls in Iraq under Hussein vs under US rule

MOSCOW, October 22. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has called to provide the U.S. Department of State with the statistics data that compares death tolls in Iraq under Saddam Hussein and under the U.S. rule, Zakharova wrote on her Facebook page on Saturday, commenting on a report of the Russian Foreign Ministry about the US-led coalition’s air strike on a funeral procession in Daquq that killed dozens of civilians.
"I am looking for statistics of how many people suffered in Iraq under Saddam Hussein and how many - under the Americans," Zakharova said. "If you find, post a link for the Department of State."
"Yesterday, the ‘human rights advocates’ again bombarded a funeral procession. Thus time it was in the Iraqi (town) of Daquq, where there are no militants at all," she added.
Earlier on Saturday, Russian Defense Ministry’s spokesman, General Igor Konashenkov said that Russian reconnaissance systems had registered an air strike of the US-led coalition on a funeral procession in the town of Daquq, some 30 kilometers south of the Iraqi city of Kirkuk. In the air strike, dozens of civilians were killed, with women and children among them, he added.
