Russian Defense Ministry says Egypt’s rumored sale of Mistrals to Russia for $1 'nonsense'
The Polish defense minister’s "weird ways" are not a secret even in Poland, the Russian Defense Ministry spokesman noted
MOSCOW, October 21. /TASS/. Polish Defense Minister Antoni Macierewicz’s claims Egypt has agreed to sell two amphibious helicopter carriers Mistral to Russia for a token sum of one dollar is nothing but TGIF nonsense, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov has said.
"Macierewicz’s claims Russia has bought the Mistrals from Russia are TGIF nonsense. The Polish defense minister’s weird ways have long been an open secret even in Poland. Macierewicz utters such speculations, like many other ridiculous statements, just for the sake of advertising himself. But that’s the Polish leadership’s problem, not ours," Konashenkov said.
The Kremlin has also called those allegations "utter nonsense" as the sources cited by the Polish defense ministry are not reliable, Russian president’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said:
"I don’t think these sources are reliable. I think that it can be explained by a background of heightened commotion reigning in Warsaw in the recent time. Regrettably, not all are capable of coping with such a backdrop or adequately react to it. It is utter nonsense," Peskov said in an interview with the Rossiya-24 television channel.
