Moscow offers deep condolences over death of King of Thailand
MOSCOW, October 13. /TASS/. Moscow offers deep condolences over the death of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, of Thailand, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said.
"There has been tragic news. The King of Thailand has died," Zakharova has said. "We offer deep condolences to the people of that country. The corresponding messages of condolences to Thailand and the people of Thailand at all levels will follow."
King Bhumibol Adulyadej died in a hospital in Bangkok. He was 88. The Royal Court was read out on Thailand’s state-run television channels on Thursday. He is said to have passed away peacefully at 15:52 Bangkok time.
A crowd of subjects in front of the hospital screamed and wept when told the monarch who had ruled the country for 70 years was no more.
The government and parliament will gather for emergency meetings tonight.
