A diplomat says 'the British logic is to stop fight against terrorists'

LONDON, October 11. /TASS/. The Russian Federation’s embassy in London expressed regret that British deputies are on the wrong side of history in the Syrian issue, the diplomatic mission’s spokesman said in a comment in connection with extraordinary debates on Tuesday in the United Kingdom’s House of Commons dedicated to the situation in Syria.

"A difficult process of elimination of terrorists is underway in Syria, and it causes regret that British parliamentarians are at the wrong side of history this time," the spokesman said. "Today’s discussion of the Syrian issue in the British parliament leaves a painful impression. The points of its participants contradict the logic of all decisions of the International Syria Support Group, which Britain takes part in too, as well as resolutions of the United Nations Security Council," he said.

The diplomat noted that the task to dissociate terrorists the United States was to fulfill has not been fulfilled.

"The United States and members of its coalition have been unable to dissociate Jabhat al-Nusra and the so-called moderate opposition they are allegedly working with," he said. "Jihadists terrorize civilians and render desperate resistance, rejecting truce and humanitarian aid," the comment said.

The Russian embassy said that London’s logic is not shared by Moscow.

"The British logic is to stop fight against terrorists and their allies. So Britain was unready to support proposals of the UN secretary general’s special envoy, Staffan de Mistura, aimed to alleviate the humanitarian crisis," the diplomat said.

"Our logic is to continue the fight until jihadists are defeated, while maximally avoiding casualties among the civilian population," he said.
