MOSCOW, October 11. /TASS/. The date and venue for a next meeting of the Normandy Four (Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine) leaders on the settlement of the conflict in eastern Ukraine have not yet been appointed, Russian president’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Tuesday.

"I can only repeat my yesterday’s words - as you know, such a meeting is being prepared, indeed. As soon as we are ready, we will make a corresponding announcement about the date and venue for such a meeting," he said, commenting on reports that the Normandy Four leaders may meet in Berlin on October 19.

As for "the Normandy process" in general, contact groups on the conflict settlement are not working "smoothly, but the dialogue is maintained on various tracks," Peskov said.

"There are problem areas, I wouldn’t dwell on that now but as soon as this homework is done conditions will be ripe for organizing a ‘Normandy Four meeting’ and then we will tell you when and where [it will be held]," he said.

He stressed however that the cancellation of Putin’s visit to Paris initially planned for October 19 would not tell on the plans of holding a meeting of the Normandy Four leaders. "No talks in the Normandy format were planned in France," the Kremlin spokesman emphasized.

Earlier, Russia’s Ambassador to France Alexander Orlov told the Europe-1 radio station that German Chancellor Angela Merkel had invited her three Normandy-format counterparts to meet over dinner in Berlin in the evening on October 19.
