Putin and Erdogan discuss joint energy projects, Syrian crisis
According to the Kremlin, the two leaders discussed construction of the first Turkish nuclear power plant Akkuyu and the Turkish Stream gas pipeline project
MOSCOW, October 5. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin had a phone talk with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday, discussing major joint energy projects, especially construction of the first Turkish nuclear power plant Akkuyu and the Turkish Stream gas pipeline project, along with the Syria crisis, the Kremlin press service said adding the phone conversation was held at Turkey’s request.
"In the context of the forthcoming personal meeting at the World Energy Congress (Istanbul, 10 October), the leaders exchanged opinions on pressing issues of the Russian-Turkish cooperation," the Kremlin said.
They "noted mutual interest in further gradual revival of the trade and economic ties and implementation of major joint projects in the energy sector, in particular construction of the first Turkish NPP Akkuyu and the Turkish Stream gas pipeline," it said, adding Syria was in focus of the conversation as well.
