Agreements on Syria cannot be approved by UNSC until US agrees to publish them
It is impossible to ask other members of the United Nations Security Council to implement these agreements before the US has agreed to publish them
UNITED NATIONS, September 20 /TASS/. The Russia-US agreements on Syria cannot be carried out because Washington is refusing to publish them, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin told journalists on Tuesday.
"No, it’s not working out. But what can we carry out if they (the agreements) have not been published?" Churkin said when asked if the Russian-U.S. agreements on Syria were being implemented.
"The US side said that it did not want to publish the agreements. We said that without the publication, it is impossible to ask other members of the United Nations Security Council to approve the deal," Churkin explained.
The Russian and U.S. foreign policy chiefs announced they had reached an agreement on the restoration of regime of cessation of military hostilities in Syria on the night to September 10 after 13 hours of talks. The agreements stress the need to restore the ceasefire regime; separate the opposition from terrorists; delimit the areas where the Russian Aerospace Forces and the U.S. Air Force deliver air strikes at terrorists; and deliver relief aid, which millions of Syrians need.
