MOSCOW, September 14. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has discussed with US Secretary of State John Kerry progress in the implementation of the Russian-US agreement to foster truce in Syria and conduct joint struggle with terrorists.

"The two men reviewed progress in the implementation of the Russian-US agreement of September 9 on fostering truce in Syria, ensuring humanitarian access and conducting joint struggle with Jabhat al-Nusra and Islamic State terrorists (both outlawed in Russia), the Russian Foreign Ministry said. "Lavrov pointed to the need for the fastest implementation of the US promise to separate Washington-sponsored moderate opposition forces from Jabhat al-Nusra and the groups that have in fact merged with that part of Al-Qaeda."

"Among other issues considered were topical international problems, such as the need for achieving the implementation of the Minsk package of measures for a settlement of the Ukrainian crisis and ensuring security in Northeast Asia, as well as preparations for the 71st UN General Assembly session and some aspects of bilateral relations," the Foreign Ministry said.

The telephone conversation had been requested by the US side.
