Russian foreign minister calls on OSCE to control ceasefire observation in Donbass

MOSCOW, September 13 /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has called on his German counterpart Frank Walter Steinmeier, the incumbent OSCE chairperson - in- office, to ensure the OSCE control over the observation of the ceasefire regime by the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) and the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.
"Lavrov urged Steinmeier, the incumbent OSCE chairperson-in-office, to use the forces of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine to ensure control over the observation of the ceasefire regime by the LPR and the DPR and expressed the hope that Kiev would follow the examples of Donetsk and Lugansk," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
Steinmeier promised to issue relevant instructions to the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine.
At its meeting on August 26, the Contact Group for the Ukraine settlement stressed the need to establish an infinite ceasefire in Donbass effective as of September 1 for the ninth time since 2014. However, the sides in conflict continue accusing each other of truce violation. -0-fil
On September 12, the heads of the DPR and LPR forbade their militaries to return fire in response to provocations by the Kiev-controlled forces. The Kiev government’s representative in the Joint Control and Coordination Center (JCCC) said, in turn, that the Ukrainian side was ready to support the ceasefire regime in Donbass constantly and infinitely.
