Over 20 tons of humanitarian aid sent to Russia’s Far East from Siberia
According to Russian Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov, over 40 settlements were flooded, including 4,500 houses with population of 14,000 people
NOVOSIBIRSK, September 11. /TASS/. The Russian Emergencies Ministry’s Il-76 plane with humanitarian aid from Siberian regions has flown from Novosibirsk to the Primorsky Krai that has suffered from strong floods, Pavel Vinakov, press secretary of the ministry’s main department in the Novosibirsk Region told TASS on Sunday.
"Tomsk and Omsk Regions, Altai Krai, Republics of Altai and Tyva earlier delivered humanitarian aid to Novosibirsk for sending it to Vladivostok. Together with things collected by the Novosibirsk Region, the weight of cargo reached 22 tons, the volume — 113 cubic meters," Vinakov said.
It was earlier reported that the Russian Emergencies Ministry’s plane with the first part of the cargo flew from Krasnoyarsk to Vladivostok on September 8. The plane delivered the humanitarian aid collected by the Kemerovo Region, Khakassia Republic, Altai and Krasnoyarsk Krais.
Typhoon Lionrock hit the Russian Far East after the powerful cyclone brought torrential rains on August 29-31, with three-month’s rainfall. The state of emergency was declared in the region. On September 4-6, another typhoon, Nemtheun, brought even more rains to the region.
According to Russian Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov, over 40 settlements were flooded, including 4,500 houses with population of 14,000 people; 43 settlements were cut off from the land; communication was disrupted with 18 settlements. The rains affected 10,500 hectares of agricultural land, 70 bridges, over 200 kilometers of roads.
