Putin meeting with Obama on sidelines of G20 summit
During the first day of the summit the two leaders spoke several times briefly agreeing to meet on Monday
HANGZHOU (China), September 5. /TASS/. Russian and US Presidents, Vladimir Putin and Barack Obama, are holding a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G20 summit.
During the first day of the summit the two leaders spoke several times briefly agreeing to meet on Monday. A source in the Russian delegation told reporters that the meeting was initiated by the US president. Putin and Obama are expected to discuss the situation in Syria and Ukraine among other issues.
The two presidents met personally last time at the Climate Conference in Paris last November. Prior to that, they had contacts during the G20 summit in Turkey’s Antalya.
The Russian and US presidents spoke over the phone several times earlier this year.
The two countries’ top diplomats, Sergey Lavrov and John Kerry, also met on the sidelines of the G20 summit.
