Diplomat: Moscow does its best to coordinate cooperation on Syria with US
The Russian Foreign Ministry notes if moderate opposition separated from terrorists, it would be easier to deliver strikes on terrorists
MOSCOW, August 18. /TASS/. Moscow is doing its best to coordinate with the United States the form of cooperation on Syria and work out relevant agreements, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Thursday.
"Regarding frustration of agreements with the United States: only what is ready may be frustrated," Zakharova said.
"Very difficult coordination of the construction, mechanism that should be formed, is underway. If someone wants work to be frustrated, it’s a question of their bias," she said.
"We are doing everything possible for this work to end in success," Zakharova said. "We have no other understanding but importance of this aspect."
She said if powers do not take specific steps that may influence the situation, the conflict in Syria will last the same number of years.
"We are doing all that depends on us for agreements to be worked out," Zakharova said.
"If that moderate opposition separated from terrorists, there would be no questions how to deliver strikes on terrorists," she said. "But the problem remains. The United States publicly undertook the commitment to conduct work to separate the opposition, saying everything will be done."
"This ‘couple of weeks’ has lasted for several months already. The process is becoming deadlocked," the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said.
