Putin to attend CIS summit in Bishkek on September 16-17

The summit of the heads of CIS member states will take place in Kyrgyzstan, which has assumed the organization’s rotating presidency

MOSCOW, August 5. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin will attend a summit of the Commonwealth of Independent states (CIS) in Bishkek, Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said on Friday.

"A CIS summit will take place in Bishkek on September 16-17 and the participation of our president has been confirmed," Ushakov said.

The summit of the heads of CIS member states will take place in Kyrgyzstan, which has assumed the organization’s rotating presidency.

As Head of the Department of Integration Associations of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry Bolotbek Mukashev said, the heads of all the CIS member states have confirmed their participation in the summit.

The leaders of the CIS member states are expected to sign a statement at the summit on the occasion of 25 years since the CIS was established.
