Lavrov, Steinmeier discuss Ukraine crisis
The Russian foreign minister stresses there exists no alternative to a direct dialogue between Kiev and Donbass
MOSCOW, July 21. /TASS/. Foreign Ministers of Russia and Germany, Sergei Lavrov and Frank-Walter Steinmeier discussed the situation in Ukraine in the context of the Minsk-2 implementation, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday after the telephone conversation between the ministers.
According to the statement, "Following the teleconference between the leaders of Russia, Germany and France on July 13, the ministers discussed the situation in Ukraine in the context of the need for consistent implementation of the Minsk 2 package of measures for resolving the internal Ukrainian conflict."
At the same time, the ministry said, "Lavrov stressed once again - there is no alternative to a direct dialogue between Kiev and Donbass, especially for reaching agreement on specific steps of political process and addressing security issues."
According to the statement, the ministers also discussed "a number of issues of bilateral Russian-German relations."
