Russian envoy says Kiev unprepared to assist Donbass integration
Russia's diplomat notes West is is interested in resolving the crisis, but everything depends on Ukraine and Donbass actions
MOSCOW, July 6. /TASS/. Kiev is not ready to offer the constructive agenda with a view to integrating the Donbass region into Ukraine’s constitutional and economic space, Russian Ambassador to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Alexander Lukashevich said in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta, which will be published on Thursday.
"Of course, the presence of OSCE, the work of its special monitoring mission in Ukraine are important elements for stabilizing the situation, but everything depends on the parties rather than on monitoring. Unfortunately, Kiev is unprepared and unable to offer the constructive agenda with a view to integrating Donbass into Ukraine’s constitutional, legal and economic space," he said.
The diplomat noted that, at the same time, the West is interested in resolving the crisis in "Ukraine. "Yes, I think they feel tired of this situation, all the more so because far more serious and global problems add to this," he said.
According to Lukashevich, the Ukrainian side exerts efforts to make sure that this issue is not pushed into the background because of other problems, such as the migrant crisis, the prospects for the European Union’s development, and the NATO factor in Europe.".
