MOSCOW, June 24. /TASS/. Speaker of the Russian Federation Council upper house of parliament Valentina Matviyenko said on Friday that the results of the UK referendum on the country’s exit from the European Union were a wake-up call over the processes taking place in Europe.

"We all respect the choice of the country’s citizens, but it is such a wakeup call over the very complicated and contradictory processes underway in Europe," the Federation Council speaker said at a meeting with President of the Belgian Senate Christine Defraigne.

According to Matviyenko, the UK citizens "have made their choice."
