Russian top lawmaker hands message from Putin to Japan PM — media

A Russian delegation of parliamentarians led by Sergey Naryshkin is currently in Tokyo with a visit that ends on June 17

TOKYO, June 16. /TASS/. Russian State Duma Speaker Sergey Naryshkin handed a message from Russian President Vladimir Putin over to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Kyodo news agency reported on Thursday.

"The chairman of the lower house of Russia’s parliament Naryshkin handed a message from President Putin at the meeting with Prime Minister Abe," Kyodo said but did not provide details on the message.

Naryshkin and Abe have held a meeting earlier today. They discussed issues of Russian-Japanese relations, the results of Abe’s visit to Sochi at the start of May and his upcoming participation in the economic forum in Vladivostok. "We discussed several issues of mutual interest for both our countries and our peoples. I am satisfied with the results of our meeting," Naryshkin told reporters after the meeting with Abe.

A Russian delegation of parliamentarians led by Naryshkin is currently in Tokyo with a visit that ends on June 17. The Duma speaker plans to meet with Japanese parliament’s leadership and members of the non-governmental organization "Council of Friendly Exchanges". He will also take part in the ceremony of opeining the 11th Festival of Russian Culture in Japan.
