Russian children’s ombudsman says Pimanova’s daughter not to be brought to US
"The birth country of Russia is written in her birth certificate and respectfully, she has the citizenship of Russia," Pavel Astakhov said. "The little girl has no relation to U.S. jurisdiction!"
MOSCOW, June 4. /TASS/. The daughter of Olga Pimanova, who was earlier arrested in the United States, will not be taken out of Russia to abide by Illinois court’s ruling, Russian Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights Pavel Astakhov wrote on Twitter on Saturday.
"We are going ahead with a struggle for rights of the little three-year-old Russian girl Arianna, who the court of the U.S. state of Illinois demanded, absolutely groundlessly, to bring to the U.S.," Astakhov said drawing criticism for "this disrespectful and illegal attitude" to Russian citizens and Russian children.
"The birth country of Russia is written in her birth certificate and respectfully, she has the citizenship of Russia," he said. "The little girl has no relation to U.S. jurisdiction!"
Earlier, TASS reported that Arianna’s mother was detained in the United States on May 20 and placed under home arrest for taking her daughter out of that country two year ago.
Earlier in the day, Russian Foreign Ministry's Special Representative for Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law Konstantin Dolgov told TASS the foreign ministry was following up this issue and the Russian embassy in Washington sent a respective note to the U.S. authorities.
"We expect respective information and feedback," the diplomat said. "Depending on those we shall proceed with further steps. The Russian citizen will receive all necessary information from our side - consular and legal.".
