Russian Foreign Ministry says there is no "plan B" on Syria
The members of International Syria Support Group have not discussed anything like that at their last meeting
SOCHI, May 19. /TASS/. There is no "plan B" on Syria, and the members of International Syria Support Group (ISSG) have not discussed anything like this at their last meeting, Russian Foreign Ministry’s official spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told a briefing on Thursday.
"We have noted Ankara’s statements that Turkey, like no other country in the world, is fighting against terrorism, as well as recent media reports citing Saudi Arabia’s officials about alleged ‘plan B’ on Syria," the diplomat said.
"A final statement was made after the fifth ministerial meeting of ISSG, and it does not mention any ‘plan B’," Zakharova said. "No agreements were made on a ‘plan B’,’ it was not discussed, no decision on it was made. The sides did not talk about it at all," she added.
She noted that ISSG members confirmed their adherence to ceasefire regime, providing humanitarian aid and promoting political settlement of the conflict in Syria.
