Vladimir Putin's press secretary says he has "no detailed information about this incident"

MOSCOW, May 17. /TASS/. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday he has no detailed information on the alleged attack against Russian opposition figure Alexey Navalny in the southern Russian city Anapa.

"Unfortunately, I have no detailed information about this incident and I would not like to learn about it only from one source [of information]," Peskov told reporters. "I do not know if there was an attack and who carried it out if this took place," he explained, adding that he hopes to get more details on this.

Earlier in the day, Russia’s transport police said they have launched an investigation into an incident at an airport in Anapa where a group of Cossacks attacked passengers awaiting a flight.

Some media reports said opposition figure Alexey Navalny was among those beaten. "They ran [at us], without allowing us to take off backpacks, and struck us down to the ground. They beat both men and women," he wrote on his Twitter page.
